Remote Class Session Policy

A "remote class session" refers to a class of 2 or more attendees in a remote location linked to a live (not recorded) presentation via the Internet, and includes the ability to communicate with the presenter. Attendance is confirmed and CE is issued, just as for attendance at the live event.

Remote sessions are set up by special arrangement between OATC and remote attendees. There is a ceiling on the number sites that the broadcast package supports, therefore the candidate sites must be pre-arranged with the contact person for the event.

Requirements and Constraints

  • Each remote site requires a designated contact person.  This person is charged with managing the sign-in sheet and evaluation forms sent to them by the event contact person. The completed forms have to be submitted to the OATC office within two days after the class.
  • The remote sites have to be tested prior to the class to ensure that the process works - the designated contact person for the remote site will be sent a GoToTraining link several days before the event.
  • Remote sites will need a computer and  high-speed internet access.
  • Remote sites need to have a screen large enough for all attendees to see. This may be accomplished by connecting a computer to a large monitor or television, or through a projector onto a screen.

  • Remote attendees will not be sent hard-copy handouts, but will be sent links to class materials which they will need to download print prior to the class.  These handouts can then be printed or read on the attendees' computers or electronic devices.
  • Remote attendees pay the full registration fee (if any) even if it includes pre-printed handouts and meals. There are many hidden costs in time  and money to provide the remote broadcast:  equipment, testing time, administration time in overseeing and technical services. We hope the remote attendee will realize overall savings in travel time and hotel costs.

We are thrilled to provide more education on a broader base through remote broadcast.
