Some tax preparers can e-file City of Portland taxes this year, thanks to a pilot project that modernizes the City tax experience.
The City has joined the Internal Revenue Service’s Federal and State Modernized e-File program. This web-based system makes it possible to file tax returns and process payments electronically, along with state and federal returns.
To pilot its first e-file forms, the City partnered with vendor Thomson Reuters. Tax preparers with compatible software can e-file City taxes for tax year 2020.
“We thank Thomson Reuters for its partnership and look forward to adding vendors in coming years, to make filing even more accessible,” said Thomas Lannom, the City’s Revenue Division Director.
This announcement follows the recent launch of Portland Revenue Online, a new customer portal for paying City taxes at Pro.Portland.gov. The City has processed more than 45,000 payments, totaling $161 million, since activating the portal last fall.
The following City forms are available to e-file through Thomson Reuters UltraTax CS software:
- Arts 2020 Form
- SP-2020 Form
- SC-2020 Form
- P-2020 Form
- C-2020 Form
