From: GILLE Benjamin P-Jr * DOR <>

The Oregon Department of Revenue (DOR) has suspended its series of Corporate Activity Tax (CAT) update meetings due to concerns about the spread of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19.

The department will not hold scheduled meetings Monday in Coos Bay and Lincoln City; Tuesday at Portland Community College's Rock Creek campus; Wednesday in Seaside; or Thursday in Keizer.

In the coming days, the department will announce alternatives to the in-person meetings for providing CAT update information to business taxpayers and tax professionals.

Information about the Corporate Activity Tax is available on the CAT page on the Department of Revenue's website<>. Resources include:

  *   A list of frequently asked questions.
  *   A link to the CAT administrative rules.
  *   High-level summaries of the rules and other topics to help with taxpayer compliance.
  *   A link to the statutes governing the CAT.
  *   Links to the email address for asking questions about the CAT and a separate email address to provide input on the administrative rules.
The page also includes an opportunity to subscribe to email updates about the CAT.

Labor Cost Subtraction
A new high-level summary of the labor cost subtraction for the CAT has been posted on the CAT page of the department's website<>. It can be found with other high-level summaries of the rules and other topics to help with taxpayer compliance under the heading "Beyond the FAQ."

ACH payments now available

The ability to make online payments and apply for ACH credit are now available through Revenue Online.

If you want to make ACH payments, you must submit an ACH credit application for the Corporate Activity Tax (CAT). On the department's website<>, go to Revenue Online and scroll down to Tools. Now, click Apply for ACH credit and complete the application.

Once you've completed the application, you will receive a confirmation providing the routing and account number. Please note: You should not use account numbers from other tax programs. First quarter estimated payments for the CAT are due April 30.

Two new FAQ added

Answers to two new frequently asked questions have been added to the CAT page of the department's website <>.

The questions cover the topics:

  *   Are receipts from sales to Oregon wholesalers excludable? And;
  *   Can I exclude receipts from the sale of groceries?

The FAQ include high level summaries of the administrative rules and the topics that were determined not to require a rule.
