Laurie K Brock grew up in Montana.  She has a BA in mathematics from the University of Montana.  Laurie taught high school math and physics in Salt Lake City for 3 years.  She moved to Eugene Oregon in 1987 and continues to call Eugene home.  Laurie earned an MS in Mathematics from the University of Oregon.  Laurie taught and tutored under-graduate mathematics courses at both UM and UO.

When her two children were young she became interested in part-time work preparing income tax returns.  She tested and became licensed in the state of Oregon in 1991.  She passed the enrolled agents exam in 1996.  She co-founded Cascade Tax Professionals, Inc. in 1995. The children are grown now, but the tax business continues to change and thrive.

Laurie's teaching background provided a natural transition to educating tax professionals.  She teaches the required Oregon BASIC course at Lane Community College.  She has helped train AARP - VITA volunteers.  She has traveled the state teaching updates, clergy taxation, bankruptcy, ethics and many other topics.
Accounting and tax preparation may have become the main career, but teaching has always been her first passion.  Last fall she blew the dust off her master’s degree and taught College Algebra at Lane Community College.  Ask her about the Pythagorean Theorem.  Laurie loves any opportunity to teach, learn and share knowledge.
