Mid-Willamette Chapter  invites you to join them on Nov 14, 2019 to hear Annette Saarinen's presentation, worth 2 hours Federal and State CE credits.

Come early and enjoy dinner! Our business meeting starts at 6:00 pm, with education from 6:30 - 8:30.


This discussion will be brief and is not an extensive or all-inclusive discussion on the topic of Depreciation.  The level of discussion is just beyond Basics.  We will be hitting the highlights only, and as with all complex topics, the Tax Preparers must be doing their own research as it applies to their clients’ situation. Some of the topics covered will include:
  • Background on Depreciation as a Tax Concept
  • Do you have to take Depreciation
  • Conversion from Personal Use Assets to Business Use Assets
  • Different "Varieties" and Methods of Depreciation
  • Depreciation Strategies
  • A Look at Auto Mileage Rates and Depreciation Component (Including Leases)
  • De Minimus Safe Harbor Expensing
  • Depreciation as it Relates to QBI and QBID and the Section 199(a)
  • Changing Accounting Methods

Annette Saarinen


Annette is 3rd generation Oregonian, graduating from Tigard High School, Portland Community College, and Portland State University with a BS in Accounting and Business. She has worked in various industries and uses her wide experience to client advantage. While doing a life assessment, she realized the happiest working moments of her career were when she was helping clients through the tax system.

She has worked with tax clients for 35 years as a Licensed Tax Preparer. She earned her Licensed Tax Consultant and Enrolled Agent status and started AccounTax of Oregon in 2004. (An Enrolled Agent is licensed to practice before the IRS). She enjoys teaching and has run a Tax School to help students pass the LTP exam. She earned one of the highest pass rates in the state.

Annette speaks regularly to various professional organizations around Oregon and loves to share her passion for taxes, clients, and small business. Her tag line is “YIPPEE! It’s Tax Time!”
