PLAN AHEAD – OATC OFFICERS' TRAINING: July 11-12 2014

Every other year OATC provides Officers' Training for all Chapter officers – newly elected or experienced, it is a good opportunity to share your experiences, learn more about your responsibilities, and interact with fellow OATC members from throughout the state.

This year the training will take place on the beautiful campus of Pacific University, in picturesque Forest Grove (about 25 miles west of Portland). Housing will be in the Burlingham residence Hall, the first Gold LEED certified residence hall in the country. Apartment style units contain a living room, kitchen, and 2 bedrooms with 2 twin beds and a bathroom. Meetings will take place on campus.

The tentative schedule is to start registration at 3 PM on Friday, July 11. We already have a commitment from Eric Arnoldus to provide us with two hours of CE on the topic of work related education. After dinner we will have social time, with plenty of options of things to do! Training will take place on Saturday, July 12, and is scheduled to conclude at 3:30 PM. An Executive Council meeting will follow, scheduled to finish by 5 PM

OATC pays for all Chapter Officers to attend this worthwhile event. Your accommodations, meals and CE are all included, and mileage is reimbursed according to the rules stipulated in our Standard Operating Procedures.

I will need to have a complete list of all attendees submitted by June 11. This includes the meals you will share with us (Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and Saturday lunch are available), and if you are sleeping over, who you would prefer to share a room with. There are 2 people per bedroom, with 4 people to a unit. So choose your roommates soon! Individual units would be an additional expense to the participant.

I know that most Chapters don't have elections until later in the spring. But if your Chapter could have your Officers in place by May then we may have a good turnout for the event. If you are considering running for Chapter office, please keep this event in mind.

The 2014 Convention Committee has been busy this summer putting together "Mountains of Education" for our 42nd Annual Convention on Thursday, June 19th through Saturday, June 21st.
